Are you lounging on the sofa? I am, after a lovely weekend in Oxford where we caught up with friends, ate like kings and queens and made lovely little discoveries in a city we don’t know that well. I hope you had a good week and a top weekend. I’m coming out of a three week cold which has been lingering around and making me feel pretty down. I didn’t realise it until I’ve shaken it off now, but I probably should have done a bit more resting than I have done. I’ve been tired, snotty and a bit grumpy.…

This week is a little different. I felt that so many things I’d read this week were pretty depressing, and nothing blew me away enough to work it into the normal STOAS format. The little girl I quote in the feature image for this post is from the New Yorker article (#2) below and she…

I spent Sunday evening on many trains back from Liverpool and by the time I got in, #STOAS wasn’t going to write itself and my bed was calling. Today is different, I’ve had a really productive Monday, a sneaky unexpected business win and I just decided I’ve read too many good things to deprive you of #STOAS totally so let’s be quick – here are seven things to read and watch that may just make…
