I’m writing this in the Lake District, where I spent many bank holiday weekends as a kid. It’s been lovely, slowing down the pace, wearing hoodies and jeans and eating amazing local food (the Lakes is a food-loving person’s paradise). I feel so lucky to be able to spend the weekend here, and this whole weekend has felt like a funday, as my new jumper will tell anyone who looks. As much as August bank holiday is a time when everyone is trying to squeeze the very last out of summer, I start getting REALLY excited about autumn, my favourite…

I’ve been a bit lax on the whole ‘let’s post seven great things on a Sunday’ thing and I’m very annoyed at myself. I’ve had a slightly bonkers month or two with a lot of personal things going on and big decisions happening and it’s thrown me off keeping to any kind of schedule or pattern. Have you heard of ‘slow weekending’? I hadn’t until I came across this lovely piece (The importance of slow weekending) from freelance writer and girl crush Alice Tate. Without naming it that, a slow weekend is exactly what I’ve just had and I couldn’t have needed it more. I’ll keep it short this week as I’m super busy and feeling a bit stretched and evvvver so slightly overcommitted at the moment. I have had a lovely weekend though, with lovely snippets shared on insta if you’re interested. Anyway, let’s get to the good stuff shall we? Seven things I’ve loved this week. Grace Dent is one of my favourite food writers of all time so I love this piece for reminding me of some her best one liners. Few people can take you to a restaurant through words alone quite like Grace. Grace Dent’s best lines in 2016.…

Are you lounging on the sofa? I am, after a lovely weekend in Oxford where we caught up with friends, ate like kings and queens and made lovely little discoveries in a city we don’t know that well. I hope you had a good week and a top weekend. I’m coming out of a three week cold which has been lingering around and making me feel pretty down. I didn’t realise it until I’ve shaken it off now, but I probably should have done a bit more resting than I have done. I’ve been tired, snotty and a bit grumpy.…
